Dj Travis
Most people spend years figuring out exactly what makes them happy in life. For Travis, that decision came easily. Even before he was old enough to get behind the wheel of a car, he has rocked the wheels of steel in clubs from coast to coast. As a dj, he moves crowds with his refreshing blend of rock, hip-hop, and everything in between. Playing what he calls “pop turntablism,” Travis incorporates scratching and all styles of music…one minute you can be moving your body to ACDC and in the next hearing one of the most current artists over the top. After a few years behind the decks, Travis took to the mic and started the 0maha-based band Slang 5. The blend of rock, hip-hop, and funk has been performed in over 30 states and has traveled as far as Japan to rock in front of thousands. In fact, the band recently attracted a major record deal. After all is said and done one thing is certain, you won’t see him stop or slowdown anytime soon.
Dj Smashup
Dj Smashup, born and raised in New Orleans, started djing in 1995 when he was only 16 years old. In 1998, he moved to Omaha after joining the US Air Force, and shortly thereafter he landed his first residency at Omaha’s own Max nightclub. There he concentrated on mastering his skills, while packing the dance floor from week to week. In 2002, he moved to London, England, UK, where Smashup immediately landed a residency at Club M and Deniro’s Nightclub in Cambridge. He was featured once a month on London’s own 106.9 FM “The X.” In 2004, he moved back to Omaha where he immediately started playing in a variety of venues, including the Max, 415, Shark Club, and now weekly at Nico. One thing can be said for sure, this dj is one the Midwest’s elite.
